OUR HISTORY

Born out of the 2018 merger between Cale and Parkeon, Flowbird has been making it easier for people to travel in and around downtown areas for the past 50 years.

Our US operations started with parking meter pilots in New York City in 1988, which led to the introduction of on-street solar powered multi-space meters in the “Big Apple” along with cities such as Aspen, CO and Portland, OR. We are proud to continue to serve those clients, and have significantly expanded into other major cities including Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Miami to name just a few.

In 2009, we launched our fare collection systems in the US for the transit market, leveraging on our success with unattended outdoor payment devices. Starting with a focus on the emergence of bus rapid transit systems, our technology has evolved to support standard full service bus systems as well as light rail, streetcar, and ferry systems.

In 2014, we entered the world of mobile payments, and now people across the United States utilize the Flowbird App, Pay by Text Solution, and Mobile Ticketing App, providing simplicity and convenience.

Today we serve over 5,000 clients worldwide including over 900 cities and universities throughout North America.

THE LAST MILE EXPERIENCE

When people head out to work or for a night on-the-town, they have many ways to get close to their destinations. However, there is very rarely a Point-A to Point-B. There are typically multiple stopping points before people get to where they really want to go. And many questions can come up.

I can drive into town, but won’t there be a ton of traffic?
If I do park downtown, will there be a parking meter or parking app?
Is my location within walking distance of the parking garage or do I need to take a taxi or ride share?
I can drive to a Park & Ride lot, but isn’t it a hassle to pay for parking and pay for a train ticket on different devices?

Flowbird provides solutions to help ease the pain of downtown travel. We help clients build a “last mile experience” and make it easier to get around and give people confidence that their journey will be a pleasant one.
