Como, city located in Lombardy, northern Italy, has decided to put its mobility project in the hands of Flowbird. Through a call for tenders launched in early 2021, the municipality expressed its wish to replace its old DG4 terminals installed for almost 20 years.
The city wants to equip itself with new parking meters, with a new design and a new touch interface, capable of operating the communication within a new back-office application in order to support the decision makers in terms of infrastructure efficiency and analytical intelligence. In addition to parking management, the municipality of Como now wants to integrate multi-service kiosks into its streets. The city wants to make the infrastructure the basis for any other application using an integrated payment approach.
Awarded in 2021, Flowbird finalizes Como’s mobility project, with the installation of nearly 60 Strada S5 Touch (and the flowbird app).
The project will integrate the mobility needs of the city by operating in a single solution parking and transport. The solution allows the integration of several operators: parking and navigation operators, municipality, but also transport company and bikes/scooters renewal. This will allow users to access a full range of services, including the purchase of bus tickets, boat tickets, parking payments and fines.
The Flowbird solution provides the application of additional services related to mobility, starting with digital applications and parking control (including the issuance of fines), but also the renewal of permits on new terminals through the application of solutions managed with our HUB.
The installation of these multi-service parking meters offers many advantages for the Municipality of Como.
- The use of parking meters is changing. In addition to managing parking in the streets of Como, they are becoming real allies for users and offer a complete set of services.
- An interface specific to the city of Como has been developed. Flowbird customizes the screen according to the city’s needs and their graphic charter.
- Terminals can add additional payments and/or services on demand from the city, sharing the benefits with the parking operator, reducing application time and costs.
- Thanks to the solution, the municipality’s parking operator can handle more easily : renewal of permits, fines, subscriptions, loyalty scheme for the business, transport ticketing, but also any type of shared soft mobility.
